Geezer Garden

Coming of An Age

The Geezer Garden is an culmination of being at Troll Knoll for several decades and trying to apply common sense to aging in place. We have put handrails on the front steps and lighted the handrails. Into the kitchen garden lawn we grew mini pumpkins and squash and many colorful peppers in the border. On the kitchen patio, different tomatoes for color and taste, leafy vegetables and herbs intermingled with flowers helped colorful peaches touch up the roses!

The bamboo hedges (everybody but John knows bamboo is invasive) now furnish handrails that are an ongoing project.

Originally the home was and is single-storied with lever-type door handles and low thresholds. The baseboards are recessed and made of stainless steel that reflects LED lights so the occupants will not trip over the color coordinated boxer dogs on the floor.

The preservation committee found and reconstructed the dinocruiser so there would be inexpensive transportation using the dinosaurs instead of gasoline to save transportation costs to far reaching places on the property. We use electric cars on the paths where the dinosaurs are too large.

Reducing the distance to travel to areas of interest is important to geezers trying to live within their means and energy level. Ann would add,… and trying to apply common sense to aging in place.
